A new documentary by renowned filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin, The People of the Kattawapiskak River, exposes the housing crisis faced by 1,700 Cree in Northern Ontario. The dire situation led Attawapiskat’s band chief, Theresa Spence, to ask the Canadian Red Cross for help. With the Idle No More movement making front page headlines, this film provides background and context for one aspect of the growing crisis. This film will stream free of charge until Friday, January 18, 2013.

About Alanis Obomsawin
Alanis Obomsawin, OC (born August 31, 1932) is a Canadian filmmaker of Abenaki descent. Born in New Hampshire, and raised primarily in Quebec, she has produced and directed many National Film Board of Canada documentaries on First Nations culture and history. Her best known documentary is Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance, about the 1990 siege at Oka, Quebec.

Watched the whole doc. Was OK. Was way to long. Slow moving. Could have easily got the entire message into about 25 minutes. Do some real editing before you try to sell it.
