Finnish employer tries end run around independent union in Mexico.

PKC is a company you have probably never heard of. It's an auto-parts supplier based in Finland, but with plants in ten other countries. Like some other companies, it tends to be respectful of workers' rights where it has to, but behaves badly where it can.
The company's website has a section about its values, where it talks about "openness, appreciation of each other and equal treatment [which] lay the foundation for fruitful co-operation."
In Mexico, PKC’s workers want to affiliate to “Los Mineros,” an independent, democratic trade union. But the company refuses to negotiate with them, and instead has signed a contract with a fake company union.
Those words stand in stark contrast to its behavior in Mexico.
In Mexico, PKC's workers want to affiliate to "Los Mineros," an independent, democratic trade union. But the company refuses to negotiate with them, and instead has signed a contract with a fake company union.
More than 100 of the workers who support "Los Mineros" were sacked in December.
IndustriALL Global Union, representing 50 million workers in 140 countries has launched a campaign in support of these workers.
Please take a moment to send off your message of protest today.
You can watch a short video in which the PKC workers in Mexico talk about their struggle here.
And please, take a moment to share this message with as many of your fellow trade unionists as you can.
If we can flood the inboxes of the PKC management, we can persuade them to recognize the right of their workers in Mexico to join the union of their choice.
