Bill Freeman is an award-winning author and filmmaker, and former Chair of The Writers' Union of Canada. He lives on Toronto Island where he writes books, plays, travel features, videos, and film scripts. He is best known for the Bains Series of novels for children set in Canada in the 1870s.

On Wednesday, June 27th, a group met in London to launch the Manifesto for a Global Democracy. The c is a pluralist statement on the need for giving democratic global answers to on-going global crises such as nuclear proliferation, climate change and financial instability.
