Sign the global appeal for a bulletproof Arms Trade Treaty.

from Amnesty International

Serious human rights abuses have been committed around the world through the irresponsible trade by countries in weapons, ammunition and other arms. We could change that now with an Arms Trade Treaty.

Our message is simple — if there is a substantial risk that arms exported to another country will contribute to serious human rights abuses, those arms supplies must be stopped. No more arms for atrocities or abuses!

You can help make this happen by adding your name to the global appeal demanding that all governments stand up for a treaty with strong human rights protection rules.

Amnesty international will deliver the signatures to the United Nations in advance of the treaty negotiations in July 2012.

Amnesty international will deliver the signatures gathered from all over the world to the United Nations in advance of the treaty negotiations in July 2012.

Dear UN Member States:

Millions of people are being killed, injured, raped, repressed and forced to flee their homes every year by perpetrators of serious human rights abuses and war crimes using a wide range of arms supplied by irresponsible traders and governments. Health, education and other services are being denied and destroyed.

The world needs a strong Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) with rules to protect human rights, so that if any type of arms to be exported to another country will probably contribute to serious human rights abuses or war crimes, then governments concerned must stop those supplies.

I call on every government to set up an ATT that effectively prevents arms from fueling such atrocities and abuses.
